Oleksandr Usyk just walked away from three heavyweight world titles. Not because he lost them. Because he doesn't want them anymore.

He wants one more fight. And he's already picked the guy.

The Setup

Last month, Usyk vacated his WBC, WBA, and IBF belts — the same three he took off Daniel Dubois less than a year ago. He kept the Ring Magazine title. Everything else, gone.

His team didn't dress it up. Usyk is 39, unbeaten at 25-0, and he's told anyone who'll listen that he's got maybe two or three fights left in him, tops. He's beaten Fury twice. Joshua twice. Dubois twice. There's one name from his era he's never touched.

Deontay Wilder.

Where Things Stand

As of this month, Usyk's team confirmed they're in direct talks with Zuffa Boxing — Dana White's new promotion, backed by TKO and Saudi money — to make it happen. Nothing's signed. No date, no venue, no purse numbers. But both sides are talking, and Wilder's side isn't playing hard to get: his manager has said flatly that if the offer comes, Wilder takes it.

Early signals point to the U.S. — possibly Las Vegas, possibly Allegiant Stadium — which matters, because Usyk has never fought a marquee bout on American soil. Whispers put a fight later this year, though nothing's locked.

Quick Hits
  • Usyk: 25-0, 16 KOs, 39 years old, hasn't lost since turning pro
  • Wilder: 45-4-1, 43 KOs, coming off a scrappy split-decision win over Derek Chisora in April — his first fight back after a two-fight skid
  • The stakes: Usyk's final fight, full stop. Win or lose, he's said this era of his career is closing.

Why This Fight, Why Now

On paper, this isn't the toughest matchup left for Usyk. Wilder's chin and volume have both slipped since his prime, and he's 2-3 in his last five going into the Chisora win. A younger, hungrier name might make for a "better" farewell on pure boxing merit.

But Wilder is still the most dangerous single punch in the heavyweight division, prime or not. One shot changes everything.

"The Cold-Blooded Closer"

Wilder's power is still the great equalizer no matter what anyone says. One shot and it's over regardless of who's landing more.

Usyk's footwork is a different level though. He's not gonna be there to get hit like Fury sometimes was. This is a bad stylistic matchup for Deontay.

Wish this happened five years ago but I'll still take it. Legacy fight either way it goes.
